The final report of the Office of the Public Protector (OPP) was made available to Accountability Now on 19 June 2017, in it Adv Busisiwe Mkhwebane upholds the complaint and asks that steps be taken to recover R1.125 billion from ABSA as a consequence of the benefits it received from the illegal lifeboat given it by the Reserve Bank. She also suggests a constitutional amendment affecting the way the Reserve Bank is operated.
