In memory of Sarah Christie

On 5 October 2025, one of the founding trustees of Accountability Now, Sarah Christie, passed away at her laptop, working on a Sunday.

Sarah was a non-practising attorney, arbitrator, mediator and trainer in employment law and dispute resolution practice and an associate of the Institute of Development and Labour Law at the University of Cape Town where she occasionally taught. She was a Senior Commissioner at the CCMA and a member of various dispute resolution panels in the private and public sectors.

Sarah consulted to the International Monetary Fund, the World Health Organisation, the United Nations and the EBRD on their internal justice and dispute resolution systems. Sarah’s commitment to the values that Accountability Now promotes was unwavering and her guidance during the early years of our existence as an NGO was invaluable to us.

All at Accountability Now extend their condolences to Sarah’s friends and family.
May she rest in peace.
